I'm unraveling my mind in search of something new to write... Writing is a process I guess. And I try to find meaning in everything.
Every word feels like a tiny thread, weaving together the tapestry of my thoughts and emotions. As I dig deeper into the recesses of my mind, I uncover fragments of memories, fleeting impressions, and the subtle nuances of my experiences. Each sentence becomes a journey of discovery, where the familiar intertwines with the unknown, and the mundane reveals hidden layers of significance. In this dance between inspiration and introspection, I find solace and purpose, knowing that through my writing, I can capture the essence of life's complexity and share it with the world. The blank page is both a challenge and a canvas, inviting me to explore the depths of my soul and transform my reflections into something tangible and meaningful.

"What happy days we have known." That quote from Penny Dreadful (the TV show) always moves me quite deeply. It encompasses so much by saying so little. I feel its weight every time I say it, and the music that accompanied the scene when it was first spoken starts playing in my head. The nostalgic and melancholic overtones overwhelm me with such tender emotion.
As I walk around this city (Mexico City), and visit its old museums, with the woman I love, I can't help but acknowledge how lucky I am. At all times. Every bar we visit, every coffee we drink, and every play we see acquires new significance because of her company. And then the quote is remembered again, and the music starts playing again and it feels as if the ghosts start to dance around me.
These moments of profound connection and shared experience elevate the mundane into the extraordinary, transforming ordinary days into a tapestry of cherished memories. In her presence, I find a sense of completeness, a quiet joy that permeates every interaction and every glance. The city itself becomes a backdrop for our story, its vibrant energy mirroring the passion and excitement we share. As the quote lingers in my mind, I realize that these happy days are not just remnants of the past but are continuously unfolding in the present, shaped by our love and the beautiful life we are building together.
What's freedom? I might not know, but it seems to me that it is at least granted to those who withstand the pain of tragedy and turn it into an ode of triumph. I used to believe in these things, but now I'm unsure. I'm lost in a cavalcade of self-reflection, a sort of addiction that I've suffered all my youth. I am in awe and simultaneously afraid of what comes next, but also weary and relieved of what has already passed. Smiling understandingly is something one should relish, not only knowing when to do it but excelling at it. I would, but somehow I don't. I feel like I'm not doing enough, but then again, it is a gesture I so earnestly appreciate when it befalls me.
As I navigate this labyrinth of introspection, I find myself questioning the very essence of my existence and the paths I've chosen. Each moment of self-doubt and uncertainty is counterbalanced by fleeting glimpses of clarity and purpose. It's a dance between despair and hope, where every step forward feels like a leap into the unknown.
I've recently heard on TikTok that the Metro, or the subway of Mexico City, was commissioned because La Doña Maria Felix's husband wanted her city to grow and modernize. I remember when I moved here during college, and even earlier when I was in middle school and visited my family, the Metro seemed to me like something so significant of progress.
You could go through the whole city in half an hour with only 5 pesos, and to me, that was incredible and still is. I mean, you can say what you want about its condition, but it feels to this day like the veins of this city, the way most people move around. It is so present and efficient. I know most of my friends prefer to move around on Uber, Didi, Lyft, or whatever. But whenever I visit, I always want to use the Metro; it still makes me feel like a kid discovering the city for the first time.
The Metro's enduring presence in my life has become a personal symbol of connection and discovery. Each journey on its tracks brings back memories of youthful adventures and the thrill of exploring new places. It's not just a mode of transportation but a cherished ritual that reminds me of the city's heartbeat, where every station and every ride is a testament to Mexico City's dynamic spirit and my ongoing love affair with its ever-changing landscape.
