Yesterday, I went to The War on Drugs concert at the Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City.
The whole time, I kept thinking about how I wrote the film "Deseosos de todo al mismo tiempo" with this music and how the friendship I developed with my crew stemmed from that film. It encompasses many of the themes I explore in it, some of which are sad and others happy. But everything was guided by the rhythm the music set... and it was this music.
The theater lobby turned into a bar, where everyone was milling around in anticipation of the concert. The opening band's music filled the space, mingling with the small groups of people scattered throughout. There was an electric atmosphere, a collective sense of excitement and camaraderie among the concert-goers. It felt like we were all part of something special, united by our love for the music.
As the main act took the stage, the energy in the room surged. The familiar chords and hauntingly beautiful melodies washed over me, transporting me back to the countless hours spent writing and creating with my team. Each song resonated deeply, evoking memories of late-night brainstorming sessions, laughter, and the occasional tear. It was a powerful reminder of the journey we had shared and the bond we had forged through our creative endeavors.
The concert was more than just a musical experience; it was a moment of reflection and gratitude. I felt a profound connection to the music and to the people who had been part of my journey. As the final notes echoed through the theater, I knew that this night would be etched in my memory, a beautiful testament to the power of music and the enduring impact of friendship and collaboration.
Alonso
No quiero hablar de Jessica.
Alonso(Off)
Hablar de Jessica duele.
Armando
Bueno, entonces Carolina.
Alonso
Okay, Carolina nunca fue algo serio,
solo fue algo que pareció una buena idea
una noche.
Armando
Y luego otra, y luego otra, y luego
otra.
Alonso
Y luego otra. Pero solo esas.
Creo que la cage con Carolina.
I felt like floating and also like a painting from the Romanticist era. There was a certain ethereal quality to my experience, as if I had stepped into a world where emotions were more vivid and the beauty of life was accentuated. I used to have a rigid notion of aesthetic and visual style for my content, always adhering to a specific look and feel. It was consistent and recognizable, but after a while, I found myself growing bored with how unchanging it felt.
The predictability of my work started to stifle my creativity. I realized I needed to break free from the confines of my self-imposed style and explore new horizons. So, I challenged myself to try out new ideas and concepts, to venture into the unknown and see where my creativity could take me.
Just for fun really, because if it's not fun, what's the point? This newfound approach breathed fresh life into my work. I began experimenting with different color palettes, unusual compositions, and unexpected themes. Each project became an exciting journey of discovery, a chance to play and create without the pressure of perfection.
This shift in mindset allowed me to embrace the imperfections and the unexpected moments that make art truly unique. I found joy in the process of creating, rather than just the end result.
Floating through this creative renaissance, I felt a renewed sense of passion and purpose. I allow myself the freedom to explore, to experiment, and to have fun with my art.
I went to the fair. The fading lights echoed the feeling of elder nights, with their glittering neon glow flowing through the space as time wove itself through life. Time goes a bit fast sometimes... It's kinda romantic to slow it down, even if just for a video clip or a scribble.
The fairground was alive with a vibrant energy, yet there was a sense of nostalgia that hung in the air. As I wandered through the stalls and rides, I couldn't help but feel like I was stepping back into a simpler time. The soft hum of laughter and the occasional burst of music from the carousel added to the dreamy atmosphere. The flickering lights of the Ferris wheel cast a magical glow, reminiscent of the nights of yesteryear.
Time indeed moves swiftly, and in our fast-paced world, it's easy to let these fleeting moments slip by unnoticed. But there's a certain romance in taking a step back, in pausing to appreciate the beauty of the present. Whether through the lens of a camera or the strokes of a pen, there's something incredibly fulfilling about capturing these snippets of life.
The fair had given me more than just an evening of fun; it had offered a precious reminder to cherish the small, everyday wonders that make life so rich.
So, here's to those fading lights and glittering neon glows that bring us back to cherished memories and remind us to take life a bit slower, to find romance in the ordinary, and to capture it all in our own unique ways.

Creo que ahorita todo el mundo de nuestra edad se quiere casar, no tengo idea que se le está metiendo a la gente.

Es el calentamiento global, el calor los hace alucinar.
Alonso:
Seguro es eso.
Alonso:
¿Y ahora que va a pasar?
Joaquín:
No lo sé. No puedo ver el futuro...
¿Pero que te gustaría que pasara?

Cuan diferente sería mi vida si no...

Tú mi amigo, eres alguien afortunado.

Lo sé.
